Management Faculty

General information

Management Faculty was founded in 1996 in order to train the highly qualified professionals in governmental or municipal management and private administration. Nowadays the Faculty acts as a modern and dynamic educational CSU complex. There are more than 1,000 students on the Faculty, 67% of them are full-time students. The educational activities are performed by 48 teachers, 65% of whom have an academic degree, 15% are Doctors of Science, including 16% of practitioners in the sphere of governance body. 

Management Faculty is:

  • Multilevel system of education: (Bachelor - Master - postgraduate student - PhD - Doctor of Science)
  • Classical education (in administrative, economical and legal disciplines), which allows to be successfully employed  in the future;
  • Modern educational technologies: score-rating system, multimedia equipment, interactive educational methods;
  • Possible internships in public and local government authorities or in city/region leading enterprises;
  • Blend of theorists and  practitioners in teaching personnel that gives students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in management;
  • Intense campus life: participating in student autonomy one can develop leadership skills, implement creative ambitions, sportive potential and be engaged in scientific work.

Fields of Study

The structure of the Management Faculty consists of three departments: "Public and municipal administration", "Management", "Economics and legal bases of governance", two of these Departments are graduating.  There is also a methodological office, which provides teachers and students with academic and information resources.​

Dean's biographical note

Since 2005, the Faculty is headed by Vasily Maksimov, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Valid Municipal Counselor of 2nd class. Vasily Maksimov was born in 1953 in Asha town, Chelyabinsk region. In 1986 he has graduated from Chelyabinsk Railway Transportation Technical School. From 1972 to 1974 did military service in the Soviet Army. Later on, in 1982 he also graduated from Chelyabinsk State University with a Specialist degree in "Labour economics".​

After this, Vasily Maksimov made postgraduate studies at the trade union movement in Central Trade Union Council and got the Ph.D. in Economy.

Since 1993 Professor works as the Head of Control and Analytical Department, as well as the managing director of Chelyabinsk administration. His empowerment includes issues related to administrative work planning, organization and conduction of the municipal elections and service. 


Academic and cultural achievements

Faculty has several scientific areas connected with management of social and economic development of Municipal formation, people's participation in local government and Human resource management. 

V. Labunski, I. Kolmakova and T. Korkina, Doctors of Economics, are the leaders of scientific specializations. Active participation in scientific research work empowered them to produce 2 doctorate thesis defenses and to issue monographs. Monograph entitled "Investment in Human Resource Capital in mining enterprise: theory and practice of management" won all-Russian competition for the best book in the field of labor economics and HR in 2008-2011 (among teachers and scientists of research institutions).

Management Faculty is actively involved in the preparation of educational programs and methodical provision, academic, additional and advanced personnel development trainings.

State and municipal management Department staff has taken part in writing of the basic textbook "The system of municipal governance" which was awarded with Education Prize of Government of the Russian Federation.

Schoolbooks, study guides, monographs written by faculty members are also multiple prize winners of IX – XIII Russian Contests and various degrees Diplomas.

Considerable attention is paid to student's creative potential. Annually CSU students contribute to numerous competitions, contests, and usually take prizes. There are some traditional activities organized by students, like matriculation, New Year's Day, Farewell Bell, Mister and Miss of the Faculty.  

International projects, seminars, conferences and partners

In order to develop international partnerships and students' academic mobility, Management Faculty became a member of the international organization "NISPAcee" in 2013. This is "The Network of Institutes and Schools of Public Administration in Central and Eastern Europe". ​
