Health Insurance (Voluntary Health Insurance)
According to Russian legislation, since 2016, every foreign citizen for legal stay on the territory of the Russian Federation is obliged to obtain a medical policy immediately after arrival in the Russian Federation; the minimum sum insured under the policy must be 100,000 rubles.
Emergency medical assistance for accidents, injuries, poisonings, and other conditions is provided by employees of state medical institutions.
In an emergency, doctors bring the patient to a stable condition; further treatment is possible only if a policy or payment for medical services is available.
In addition to emergencies, in the absence of a Voluntary Health Insurance, all medical services are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
Upon arrival in Russia, a foreign citizen must purchase an Voluntary Health Insurance that covers a minimum of medical services, including outpatient and inpatient care, hospitalization and transportation, and which is accepted in clinics and hospitals located near the place of study or residence.
If you have a Voluntary Health Insurance, when you go to the doctor, medical services are provided in accordance with the insurance program, free of charge; for admission it is enough to show your passport/ID card and the insurance.
The Department of International Cooperation of Chelyabinsk State University provides assistance in obtaining Voluntary Health Insurance; Voluntary Health Insurance can also be purchased at any insurance company.
For registration of Voluntary Health Insurance it is enough to present a passport/ID card.
